Challenge Getaway Pro HTLR handmade tubeless-ready gravel tire
Challenge Getaway Pro HTLR handmade tubeless-ready gravel tire
Challenge brings their new handmade, tubeless-ready (HTLR) technology to the gravel racing scene, and the result is the Challenge Getaway, a high-end, race-ready tire built on a handmade casing. The tread shape and casing excels on gravel and hardpack dirt, with enough edge knobs to hook up for cornering grip on loose dirt or rocky trails - think multi-surface events like the Redlands Strada Rossa or Rock Cobbler that include gravel, dirt, pavement, rocks, and sand on a single day.
Fast-rolling straight line speed, with edge knobs for cornering
The closely-spaced center knobs are fast-rolling for straight line speed, while the edge knobs have more space between them for grip. Choose 40mm wide version for modern gravel bikes with bigger tire clearance and more challenging terrain, or 36mm wide version for older bikes, those with limited tire clearance, and smoother courses.
High-end casing for competitive gravel racers
The Getaway is built on the new Challenge Superpoly Corazza Armor casing for low rolling resistance and stability. This gravel-specific casing uses a double layer of the SuperPoly layer for durability.
PPS2 Puncture Prevention Strip
PPS2 is a special fabric between the tire casing and tread, which helps prevent race-ending punctures.
Classic tan sidewall "look"
The Getaway features the classic tan sidewall design with black tread for a distinctive look that can't be overlooked on the road or trail.
Meets ISO, ETRTO standards; plus hookless compatible
The HTLR line from Challenge meets the new ETRTO and ISO tubeless standards, and is also hookless rim compatible.
Challenge tubeless-ready tires can be mounted with or without inner tubes. When used tubeless, a liquid tire sealant is needed (Challenge's own SMART tubeless sealant recommended, but others can be used as well.) Challenge tires should not be mounted on wheels that don't meet ISO or ETRTO standards.

I was looking for a fast tire for a upcoming 120 mile gravel bike race. About 60 miles of the course was on very hard ground with exposed rocks. Arizona “gravel”. I was concerned with the difficulity that other had with mounting. I am using Reserve 32 wheels. I followed the instructions on the Challenge site and while a little more difficult to mount than other tires, I was able to with only needing to use a lever for the last few inches. I was able to seat the bead on one tire with my floor pump and the other needed compressed air. The ride on these was excellent. Very soft with lots of traction. I am coming from a set of Zipp tires and there were a much better ride. After riding a few rides (80 miles or so) I unmounted them and put them back on just to see how hard it would be after they had stretched some. I was able to re mount without needing any levers. All by hand. Again, I was able to seat one tire with my floor pump (the one that needed compressed air last time) and the other with my compressor. The 120 mile gravel race went well without any tire issues. A fast rolling, nice handling, and tough tire. I now have a few hundres miles on them and they are doing great. The mounting that others have had my be dure to the tire/rim combination.
