Shorty 4 allows you to run a quality, forged aluminum cantilever brake at a value price. Perfect for the privateer or athlete outfitting a whole family of bikes. Shorty 4 uses a center mount pad to reduce vibration and squeal. 

Shorty 4 features full stainless hardware, so it won't corrode in the wet/muddy environment of cyclocross. Shorty is also an ideal design for bicycle touring or adventure bikes, since they can be maintained and adjusted with nothing more than a set of hex wrenches.

Shorty 4 vs. Shorty 6: 
Compared with the Shorty 6, the Shorty 4 is very similar, but uses a one-piece brake pad instead of a carrier with a replaceable insert. We recommend Shorty 6 for wet, muddy environments where you may need to change pads more often, or if you switch between wheel types, requiring a change between carbon and aluminum brake pads. If you don't need this pad insert changing feature, Shorty 4 offers the same braking power and modulation, and you won't pay for the features of the Shorty 6 that you don't need. 

Compatibility:

• Cantilever brakes are designed to work with road drop handlebar brake levers. If you intend to use them on a bike with a flat MTB handlebar, you'll need brake levers specifically labeled for cantilever brakes, not linear-pull / V-brakes for correct operation.
