AbsoluteBLACK Oval Cyclocross 1x Chainring for Shimano Cranksets
AbsoluteBLACK makes some of the finest oval chainrings available. This model is designed for 1x, single-chainring cyclocross drivetrains and features a bolt pattern designed for popular Shimano cranksets.
Many athletes are switching their cyclocross and gravel bikes to 1x drivetrains to simplify maintenance and save weight. This ring was designed specifically for the mud and wet of cyclocross with special 3D machined teeth for mud shedding and to reduce noise.
Why Oval? Asymmetrical (elliptical) rings work because riders don't produce power evenly throughout the pedaling stroke. Oval chainrings help normalize that power delivery to the drivetrain, so you go faster with less fatigue. A more consistent cadence can also improve rear tire traction on loose, slippery terrain.

Remove the original chainring(s) from your crankset. Position the AbsoluteBLACK oval replacement chainring in the space where the big chainring was (outside position). The small triangle mark on your new AbsoluteBLACK chainring sits behind the crankarm. Install using the bolts included with the new chainring and a T-30 torx wrench (not included) with a force of 5-7Nm. Always use a new chain with a new chainring.
