The 2021 USA cyclocross national championships "return" to Chicago

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, it caused the mass cancellation and postponement of bicycle racing worldwide, both at the professional and amateur levels. Among the casualties was the 2020 USA Cycling cyclocross national championship, which was originally scheduled for DuPage County, Illinois, outside Chicago. At first there was an attempt at a relocation and postponement, before the event was eventually cancelled outright.

As riders, athletes, teams, and sponsors hope for a return to normalcy in Fall, 2021, USA Cycling has again awarded the cyclocross national championship to the same city - Chicago - for this year's event.

2021 Cyclocross national championship location

This event is scheduled to take place at Cantigny Park in Wheaton, Illinois - a suburb to the West of Chicago. DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau is the host.

With an average temperature of about 40 degrees, Winter in Chicago could definitely bring snow or rain, creating challenging conditions.

2021 Cyclocross national championship dates

The 2021 USA Cycling cyclocross national championship is scheduled for Dec 7-12, 2021. If you're making travel plans, expect this event to follow the same format as in previous years - amateur, age group, masters, youth riders during the week, followed by Elite categories over the weekend.

2021 Cyclocross national championship live stream

USA Cycling national championship events are broadcast, free, on the organization's YouTube channel. For those who can't attend in person, we expect free live streams of, at minimum, the Elite Men and Elite Women's categories to be available for remote viewing.

If you're planning to go to nationals as a participating athlete, make sure to review and understand the rules for your equipment, especially the maximum tire size rule, before traveling.
