If you're in search of "the one tire", you've found it in the Clement MXP tubular. MXP features an intermediate tread pattern to create an all-conditions tubular for cyclocross or gravel racing. While it would be great for every rider to have multiple wheel sets with grass, mud, snow, etc. tires, in practice, most amateurs can only have a single wheel set. If that's you, you'll find that the MXP is a great choice.
Clement named the MXP after the Milan, Italy airport code. Milan, a prior venue for the UCI cyclocross World Cup, is the perfect example of a race course that demands a tire that excels in many conditions - paved, grass, mud, dirt. Based on the classic grift-style pattern first developed by Clement decades ago, but refined with cuts in the central chevrons to allow more flex, plus big side knobs for grip.
Clement tubulars feature a unique construction. Instead of a captive latex inner tube, the entire casing is airtight. This design is very lightweight and puncture resistant, and in the event of a flat, can be repaired by injecting sealant. The sidewall is rubber coats to prevent deterioration from mud or water when washing your bike. No additional sealing of the sidewalls is necessary.
Clement takes pride in their manufacturing process, which results in a tire that is straighter and easier to install. For you, that means an easy-to-glue surface that doesn't peel away from the casing.
* This is a tubular (glue-on) tire and must be glued/taped to a matching tubular rim. It will not work on a clincher rim designed for inner tubes.
