Perhaps more than any other characteristic, cyclocross is known for mud. When conditions turn nasty, riders demand a true mud tire, and the Clement Crusade PDX Tubular is that tire.
Scoring 4.5 out of 5 stars, Bike Radar's review of the PDX says "up there with the best tubular mud tires... very durable and ready to mount right out of the box."
PDX takes it's name from Portland, Oregon, and the rainy conditions that create some of the most muddy, extreme cyclocross courses around. While you can use this tire for all conditions on any cyclocross course, it excels in mud - wide spaced tread blocks allow plenty of space for mud to fall away, preventing the tread from packing up.
PDX features fast-rolling center knobs on hardpack and pavement, while aggressive side knobs bring incredible cornering performance. A soft rubber compound adds even more grip.
Like it's sister tire the MXP tubular, the Clement Crusade PDX tubular has no inner tube - instead, the entire casing is airtight. This is different from competing brands, which often use a captive latex inner tube. This design is very resistant to punctures and easily accepts liquid sealant if desired.
Clement takes pride in their manufacturing process, which results in a tire that is straighter and easier to install. For you, that means an easy-to-glue surface that doesn't peel away from the casing.
* This is a tubular (glue-on) tire and must be glued/taped to a matching tubular rim. It will not work on a clincher rim designed for inner tubes.
