When you want to explore, ride gravel, or get lost on your bike look to the Donnelly EMP. It offers a tight, closely-spaced tread that rolls fast, but still has some edge knobs for cornering on loose dirt or gravel. Works great for bikepacking or touring on mixed surfaces too.
EMP is named for Emporia, Kansas, the home of the Dirty Kanza, one of the original gravel adventure rides where its bigger, wider casing and higher air volume are appreciated. There is also a puncture protection belt under the tread to reduce the risk of getting stranded in the middle of nowhere on your adventure rides. Add sealant and you have a very low risk of flats.
In the 700x38 size this tire will fit most cyclocross frames and forks, but might not fit some older race bikes that have really tight clearances. Modern gravel / adventure bikes should have plenty of space for this style of tire.
